Jamaica is an island nation in the Caribbean, located to the south of Cuba and to the west of the island of Hispaniola. Kingston is the country's capital and largest city, with a population of 937,700. Jamaicans are of predominately African descent, with significant European, Chinese, Indian, and mixed-race minorities. Due to a high rate of emigration since the 1960s, Jamaica has alarge diaspora around the world, particularly in Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States. It is famed as the birthplace of reggae, and its capital Kingston is home to the Bob Marley Museum, dedicated to the city’s most famous son.
